I have been working on the study for quite a while, back when we first started painting it last christmas. It has finally started to come together and now we are just adding the finishing touches. It's quite a small room so it's really important to make use of storage and not clutter the room too much. Here's how we're doing so far:
 |
| Our new pinboard (see the process here) |
 |
| Pops of neon keep the neutral room from being boring. This print is only £12 from Red Direct, frame from Wilkinson |
 |
| My neon spray painted Ikea stool |
 |
| Neon masking tape, £3 a roll, Papermash. The top photo is of my mum with her dad on her wedding day - doesn't she look chic? | | | | | |

As I have a full-time job as well as this blog, I spend a lot of time sitting at a desk, as you can imagine. A few of you might have noticed a while ago I started out with a basic living room at my desk - this soon changed as I began to use the computer more and more. Needless to say, working on a plastic chair did nothing for my back! So I have invested in a Herman Miller Aeron chair: ergonomically designed (trust me, it is the most comfortable desk chair I have EVER sat in), built to last, and most importantly (for me, anyway): chic, if you care about your back at all this is the best investment you could make. The company spend time with you finding a chair tailored to your needs and on hand to demonstrate how it works. I have to be honest, I have not quite got the hang of all the functions (there are a lot of fun looking levers) but it has changed the way I work and I have never looked back.
 |
| I kept leaving marks on the desk with the mouse, so bought this cute mousepad/notepad, £12.50, Liberty |
 |
| This gorgeous notepad by Choux a la creme was a gift, bought from Liberty |
 |
| My dream has always been to have matching pens and pencils (pens: muji, pencils: Claridges) - let's see how long it lasts! |
Next on my list is a cool sideboard/shelving unit (preferably Danish) and a cool rug:
 |
| Geometric rug, £150, Plantation Rug |
Love your moodboard and hot pink stool! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteWow loving the study! Like the grey vs neon and the hand crafted touches.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the day to own one myself, mine is currently my bed or the kitchen table!

Thank you. I had been working on my lap on the sofa for over a year and is has really helped me zone out and get down to work!
DeleteWit woo!! Gaaah you are so neat and tidy!!!lol. My desk is largely the complete opposite of yours! I love it. Its like you, but in room form - that is meant in a complimentary and un-weird way! Love the mood board and the little neon stool - looks fab! xxxx
ReplyDeleteI'd always take neat and tidy as a compliment! Thank you!
DeleteI'm loving the notepad with the pencil on it! Might have to be a wee "gift to self" I reckon there! Work spaces can always be potentially pretty dull can't they but you've managed to make yours chic, tidy and fun. And with all those little personal touches & quirky bits n bobs, there's plenty to keep your interest for when your mind completely wanders off work but you're doing that thing of thinking you're still technically working if you're at least still sat your desk!! (Tell me I'm not the only one?!) x
ReplyDeleteYou're not the only one!! I have spent a lot of time on Pinterest getting ideas and I also definitely think decorating becomes quite an organic process. You had to sort of keep adding to see what works...
DeleteVery impressed with your study! We have a very similar sized room that is currently full of unfolded laundry...my dream is to turn this into a study so I'm going to be taking some inspiration from you.
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased, yes this room was totally sold as a second bedroom but so much better to turn it into a room we'd actually use. I love it.
DeleteObsessed with the Neon stool. Where did you get your spray paint for it from?
ReplyDeleteAlice x
Sorry for the slow reply, must have missed this...the spray paint is from London Graphics company, lots dotted around London or you can get them online x
DeleteWhat an awesome study area…so cool. I need a space like that in my life…if only the kids wouldn't wreck it on me..Ax
ReplyDeletePS Those glasses ROCK - don't mind those MN girls - they know nothing :)
Thanks Avril! I spend so much time in here now, even though 3 months ago it still wasn't even a room! Xx
