This past weekend I was invited to a beautiful baby shower for a wonderful friend.
Baby showers in the past have felt quite 'American' but they are definitely becoming more popular in the UK. Sweet things often tend to be the order of the day and the table was a feast for the eyes with cakepops, home-made cakes and cookies.

Instead of buying baby-clothes or jungle-jims, we were each asked to bring a book for the baby to enjoy, so the family could build up a library. I thought this was a wonderful (and price conscious) idea! This is what I picked...I just fell in love with the illustrations:
I bought it from Gosh! The London comic book store on Berwick Street, Soho. It's a wonderful shop and has a fantastic selection of children's books. I find, if you don't know exactly what you want, it's so great to go into a shop and get a feel of the paper stock and the quality of the drawings.
It's not the first baby shower I've been to...this is a photo of the spread at stylist and Editor of Wearing It Today, Laura Fantacci's summer baby shower last year (we each brought something delicious):
Suggestions for a chic baby shower (and I'm sure you can re-use them after!):
