Festival Des Metiers

At last! The Hermes exhibition is here!

Held at The Saatchi Gallery, King's Road, London, what a feast for the senses it is. See artisans at work, crafting one of the iconic 'Kelly' bags, or watch silk scarves being screen-printed in front of you. There are opportunities to speak to the craftspeople, and interpreters are on hand to translate if necessary. The entire set-up is welcoming, relaxing and inspiring.

I was lucky enough to go the Press preview yesterday morning but it is open to the public until 27th May, 10am - 6pm and best of all: it's free!

Screenprinting the world-famous silk scarves

I loved the ceramic painting - so beautiful
Even the carpet was a mixture of chic Hermes print and craft tools (and went well with my new leopard trainers)

A lesson in merchandising silk scarves...
My page in this month's Red, anticipating the exhibition - it definitely lived up to the hype

And an Hermes bag, updated with a modern red racing stripe, shot for my accessories story, Red June issue by David Mandelberg.

  1. I just got so excited reading this post thinking I'm going to take my daughter as she starts an Art & Design Foundation Degree in September then realised it ends on 27th. Gutted. & well jel too!! ;-)

    1. I know, which is why I had to put this post up the day I went, as blink and you'll miss it! It was, however, very fingers crossed it will come back at some point!

  2. Thanks to your pointer on Instagram, I managed to get a visit in before the Chelsea Flower Show. It was absolutely brill sothanks again :)

    1. I'm so glad, Ann! How was the flower Show? I was supposed to go to, but work got in the way :( :( - there's always next year!

    2. Would you believe me if I told you I enjoyed the Hermes exhibition more than the flower show?! I'm a gardening geek but the sh*t weather combined with it absolutely heaving made it less than enjoyable. Grumpiness aside, there were lots of lovely flowers and worth going once! Got some pics and review on my blog now :)

  3. I saw this exhibition about two years ago in Brussels and I wrote one of the first posts of my blog (! It made me love this brand even more because you can really see the craftmanship behind every pieces! Caterina
