People Who Inspire Me...Cerys Matthews

A Few months back, I was lucky to meet Cerys Matthews on a shoot with Red Magazine for the July issue. The iconic lead singer of Catatonia, she has also been a regular on one of my TV addictions, 'The Voice' on my favourite team (who doesn't love Tom Jones?) and it was truly inspiring meeting her.

Cerys has a radio show on Sundays, Radio 6 where she plays an eclectic range of sounds. I'm listening to her show on 23rd June as I type, with the sounds of Miles Davis, The Supremes and Jessie mae Hemphill. Listen to Sunday's show here, it's fab.

It was fascinating to hear her talk about music and I had no idea she lived in the South of US for 5 years...she was telling us all about Graceland and the vibe of the southern states. I love her thick welsh accent, which is soft and calming and really carries a sense of deep enthusiasm for music and culture. On my lovefilm list now is the documentary 'Searching for Sugarman', which Cerys recommended.

Cerys's book, a sing-along-book for all the family, available on Amazon
I love the Victorian illustrations featured in the book
