Birchbox Giveaway

I'm thrilled to announce an exciting giveaway to some of The-Frugality readers...Birchbox (see my previous post here) have very kindly offered 3 readers the chance to win a 3 month subscription of the home delivered beauty kit.

For those who don't know, Birchbox is the chicest little monthly package, offering especially curated beauty and lifestyle products delivered directly to your door. I'm still using the 'Make Believe' bronzer and Kusmi detox tea I opened in my box back in May...

To enter, all you have to do is enter in the comments box below (or email me on the-frugality@hotmail.co.uk) which beauty product you've recently discovered and couldn't live without (frugal or not!). Mine would definitely be the Collection eyeliner pen I recently blogged about...

Competition ends Saturday 14th September at midnight and winners will be announced Sunday 15th September. Good luck!

  1. Good morning!

I was recommended La Roche Posay Redermic R by a friend with flawless skin. I bought a tube when it was on offer in Boots (it's still a third off ...so sort of frugal!) and I'm a complete convert. I'm 30 and starting to need a little bit of help with fine lines and minor sun damage and this little tube has given me an even, brighter face. I'm a complete convert and cannot recommend it to my friends enough!

  2. My product recommendation has got to be the Ginerva Green Tea Exfoliating Marvel Gel.. It has made such a difference to my 35 year old skin which I have struggled with previously. I have noticed much softer, smoother skin on my face and loads less blackheads on my nose. I think you can only buy on-line but its definately worth the money.

    1. Ps I have just remembered an even more recent beauty must-have discovery and a frugal one at that! Aldi's Lacura make up range's under eye concealer is very, very similar to YSL Touché Éclat but only £3.59 a pop- bargainous!

      Great giveaway

  3. My product recommendation would be Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution for sensitive skin, it removes make-up and soothes skin, lasts for months and the price is fantastic, so ... pretty frugal ;)

  4. Mine is Smashbox's primer. You can wear it under foundation or just by itself for silky, smoothed-over skin. Not that frugal though, so I cut the tube in half when it's almost finished and get access to every last bit! :)

  7. I found a little gem of a product recently and it was only £7.50! Essential Care Organic Rose Moisturiser. Smells divine, sinks in perfectly, works great under make-up and you can use it on the eye area too. I didn't expect it to be so good, will definitely be buying it again. X

  8. My new beauty must-have, although I admit I'm rather late to the party with this one, is Moroccanoil Light treatment for fine or blond hair. Using it daily has transformed my hair texture from straw to silk, and you only need a teeny-tiny bit so a bottle lasts ages - much frugality!

  9. Just yesterday I purchased Simple. As my skin is aging I wanted to simplify my beauty regimen. Thanks for the chance.

  10. YSL touche eclat!!! Brightens up my dark circles (thanks, Mom) and makes my eyes look bright and lively. Love it!

  11. I have recently discovered YSL Touché Éclat, and after having a baby a few months ago I can't live without it as it disguises the dark circles I now have thanks to all those sleepless nights!

  12. My most recent beauty 'can't do without' has been the Salon Professional Luxe Oil. My hair has been in amazing condition since I started using it and at my last hairdresser appointment, he told me I didn't need anything off the ends of my hair! I call that a result. It seems expensive for a bottle but it will easily last a year or more - that's frugal :)
Great giveaway Alex - fingers crossed! Avril x

  13. I am a budget brand girl at heart when it comes to skincare and make up but after getting a sample of Elemis Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm with a magazine over the Summer I am definitely prepared to splurge on this cream again!! I used it as a primer at first but then realised I could use it on it's own as it made my skin look fantastic!! Being almost 44 I need all the help I can get!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'd have to say my Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder. It seems expensive but I've used it almost daily for about four months and it still looks brand new so I see it as a relatively frugal purchase!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mine is the CND Vinylux Weekly Nails...a cheaper alternative to Shellac that still looks AMAZING and lasts 7 days!! You put it on yourself and it gets stronger in natural light! It's a revelation

  36. Hey Alex, would love to try Birchbox! My fave new product is the REN Omega 3 night repair serum. It's £34 which seems like a lot for a night serum, but a little goes a long way and the results are amazing. I wake up with soft, plumped skin every time! Ooh, and I'm a bit late on this on but just got given a bottle of Seche Vite... simply the best top coat ever! Nails are dry in 30 seconds and stops chips for days!

  37. I was recommend Maybelline BB Cream by a friend, a light covering moisturiser/foundation. It takes 2 minutes to apply first thing in the morning, my face feels fresh all day long. This item can be bought from all beauty shops and supermarkets for less than £10 - BARGAIN. This is one item I would not live without.

  38. I've recently discovered Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate and it has fast become a must have product in my regieme. It smells divine and is perfect to slather on when you get back from an evening out (!) - when I have remembered to put it on, my face looks so much better! It isn't cheap but I can imagine it will last a long time as you only need a few drops.

  39. I received a sample of Le Volume de Chanel mascara in Noir with Red magazine a few months back and it is hands down the best mascara I've ever used. I now need to buy the full size one!

  40. I brought the eyeliner that you said about and it's amazing! So that and my Nars Satin Lip Pencil have to be my rave about products. I have too mention Aldi Serum too!! It's great and for £3.49 cheeeeeappp!! x

  41. Wow, what a great competition! On the advice of my hairdresser I have started using almond oil to add some much-needed moisture to my damaged and (sadly) ageing hair. I turned 40 earlier in the year and have really noticed that the ageing process has affected my hair. I've tried all sorts of expensive treatments in the past but a bottle of cheap 'n' cheerful almond oil, which you can pick up for about a quid in Boots and other chemists, has really made the difference. I apply a small amount in the evenings before the next day's hair wash to really penetrate the ends overnight. Voila - soft, silky frizz-free hair! I would recommend it to anyone with long hair that has seen a bit too much of the hair straighteners over the years - a really cheap way to restore some shine to your locks!

    Love the blog, btw!

  42. I love hydraluron by indeed labs. It is a great way of increasing moisture for my dehydrated skin, especially in winter. It is reasonably priced and you can get it from Boots. A no-nonsense, honest and efficient product for supple skin. ( I wish I worked for them :) )

    ReplyDelete
  43. I love superdrugs serum for dehydrated skin, its only £4.00!! I tried Hydraluron but this is so much better, you get more product and its like a fifth of the price! I love reading everyone's recommendations.

    Bee x

  44. I was just coming to recommend the superdrug serum for dehydrated skin and I see somebody else already has - it is great though! I love the moisturiser as well, which is equally bargainous.

  45. i recently started using Revitalash syrum on my lashes and i am hooked! its quite pricey at £60 a go but it lasts ages and the results are fantastic, i saw results within three weeks of applying. I get so many compliments now and no longer need to wear mascara (which technically must count towards being frugal in some way?) xx

  46. Oooh this is a FAB giveaway as i have been wanting to try Birchbox for a little while now!!! Hmm my most recent beauty discovery is Good Things Miracle Mattifier moisturiser. It sounds dull but i have spent so so so much money trying to find a daily moisturiser that makes me rosey posey cheeks soft and gets rid of that nasty 3pm shine on my nose too and i have done it, AND it costs less than a fiver!!!!

Keeping everything crossed i win!!! Lots of love xxxx

  47. It's got to be Beauty Protector - protect and detangle. I broke 2 bones in my hand so can't wash my hair, but this sprayed on after a shampoo works wonders! No conditioner needed and it makes my hair soooo soft and silky :)

    R xx

  48. I love Keihls BB and CC Cream. Beautifying, balancing, colour correcting and SPF 50. Multiple products in one so fairly frugal!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I've discovered coconut oil for my hair and also as a skin moisturiser - lovely!

  50. Lanolips 101 Ointment is without a doubt my favourite beauty product. I have tried and tested 100s of similar ones only to find they are either too greasy, or work at first, only for my lips to go dry after I stop using it. It is made from 100% lanolin, an oil found in sheep's wool but it's still vegetarian and it is even used in hospitals to heal burns. So not only does it moistures but it genuinely heals too.

As it says on the tube, it has 101 uses and I have recommended it to breast feeding friends and I use it on my cuticles when they are really dry. It was a very frugal £11.22 from Boots (advantage points too) and it lasts forever. They also do slightly more glam tinted SPF15 one that has seen me all the way through summer.

  51. Mine is actually a perfume - Dolce and Gabbana The One. Definitely not frugal but so worth the indulgence!

  52. Not an individual product, but just bright neon nails in general! Your post on YSL blue nails a few months ago inspired my bright blue mani & pedi for my holiday this summer. There's nothing that makes me feel more summery and care-free that bright nails!

  53. Soap & Glory Thick and Fast mascara is the best I have ever trued and I have tried a lot!! It thickens without clumping, doesn't flake off and it easily removed with make up remover. It is just fabulous and the best thing is its not that expensive! Its my 'can't do without' product.
