Coats, Coats, Coats

Time to wrap up, people...With a storm imminently upon us, I thought it about time to discuss investment coats. Sadly, the pink coat is over (sorry!). So if you're going to part with around £100 (which you do if you want to keep anywhere near warmth), which ones will stand the test of time?

Trying on the Filippa K 'Abbey' coat for size
I always think when investing in something you can't go wrong with grey and black. Failing that, a bit of leopard print often works.

Love this coat from Asos, £110

H+M get it right again, £59.99
Wearing an old Zara coat, Theory striped top, Koral jeans, Zara bag and Nikes (buy similar here)

You can't beat a classic 'crombie' style coat, £120, Atterley Road

An oversized 'boyfriend' coat is a must, £89, Topshop

Pinstripes may be huge this season, but this coat will stay eternally chic, £149, Zara
This biker style jacket would look great with leather skinnies or denim, £95, Marks + Spencer

Teal green is the new 'go with everything' neutral, £89, Topshop
At £49.99, it might not keep you the warmest but it's very, very cool. From H+M
If you're looking for something a little more snuggly, then maybe try out this from Gap - all the quality of a Woolrich parka but without the pricetag. I love the wool finish on the jacket, keeping it a bit chicer than most other parkas. The hood's detachable, too:

£89.95, Gap

  1. I have to say my favourite is the one you're road testing - the Filippa K one - it's like an upgraded version of your Topshop one from last year. I'm still looking for my perfect camel coat.

    1. Zara had a great subtle navy check pea coat which I've shot for Red and is great (and it's under budget!): http://www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/coats/checked-coat-with-pockets-c269183p1494040.html

  3. The filippa k coat is gorgeous the perfect length and shape. I saw my perfect camel coat 15 years ago and I still gutted I didn't buy it, it was expensive but beautifully classic!

  5. Mmm...pink coats, I think Whitney in Eastenders ruined that micro-trend wearing a fetching one this evening!

    1. Sadly some trends are too easy to ruin quickly...done in the wrong way can be disastrous!

  7. Lovely selection and the one you are wearing in the fourth picture is my favourite! I'm also looking for a coat/jacket and I was thinking about getting one of the Isabel Marant for H&M pieces, but I have to check the fit...Caterina
