My Green House...

Images from Pinterest - follow my boards here
The builders are almost out and soon we can start decorating our loft. I am beyond excited. And with the skylight, velux and large window at the back I can't wait to fill the airy space with greenery. I have never been a good plant person, which is why I am thrilled with the current trend of cacti, succulents and plants of the green yet dry variety. Plus, they are selling them in Ikea - which you're far more likely to spot me in than a garden centre.

Cacti, from Ikea

Cactus and pot: Ikea. Candle: Fornisetti at Amara. Aloe Vera plant: Ikea. Concrete planter: Granit from Gothenburg, Sweden (see my Gothenburg shopping guide here)
It's a great way to bring the outside in, especially with cramped London living. We actually don't have a garden (or even a balcony!) so it's the closest thing to a garden we're getting right now. I've also just bought this Terrarium from Urban Outfitters - I was excited to find something affordable (I'd previously been looking at The Urban Botanist - amazing but way out of my league) it'll go with my copper edged trinket box from H&M Home...

And this coming weekend? Well it's my birthday and we are taking some time out in London seeing new sights (and staying at The Ace Hotel - we got a great deal booking early and staying on a Sunday night - I can't wait!).

And this is on my Sunday agenda for my total green fix - the conservatory at the Barbican - it's free entry and open most Sundays (but check here first as they often hold events)- isn't it beautiful?

  1. Oh I've had my eye on that terrarium for a while but haven't got the £ yet. Will look forward to hearing what you think. x

  2. Really enjoy your posts Alex and find your London hints and tips; where to go, where to visit and where to eat very useful. On my infrequent trips to the Smoke I take your advice and a visit to the Conservatory at the Barbican is next on my list. Thanks xx

  3. Found awesome terrariums like this at

  4. There are times when you suffer the disease being treated immediately, before things got worse. Thank you for the information:)
