Interiors: Linen sheets

Bed linen set (including pillow cases), £97, Soak & Sleep. Grey washed pillowcase (underneath): £8 each, Habitat. Ticking stripe cushion: £8, Ikea. Enamel monogram mug: £14.75, Sophie Victoria Joy at Etsy

Bedding is an expensive habit, isn't it?! So irritating that we need it every single night...

I've only recently succumbed to linen bedsheets and I've been converted. Admittedly, you don't get that crisp feeling of jumping in as you do those Hotel type, White Company sheets but there is something lovely and lived about these...it feels a bit more cosy and bohemian. And I love the way the sheets looks all crumpled when you get out - rather satisfying. Plus when it's chilly out you don't get that initial fear of the cold sheets against your skin.

Cost per wear, you definitely get your moneys worth out of decent bed linen but I'm always on the hunt for a few more affordable options...

Pale aqua linen duvet cover: £63, Soak and Sleep
Double quilt cover and 4 pillowcases: £65, Ikea
Linen bedding set: £80, The Secret Linen Store
Linen bottom sheets, from £34, West Elm
Linen duvet cover set: £79.99, H&M Home

Linen duvet cover: £49.99, Zara Home

Also, on an interiors note, Jordan and Russell from Two Lovely Gays (who I had the pleasure of working on an M&S interiors shoot recently and really are the nicest guys you'll ever meet) have collaborated with The Secret Linen Store on a range of bed linen. The 'Moon' range looks almost like marble - and I love the idea of this as a bottom sheet...

And while you're there, you might want to check out their interiors styling website - SO good for ideas, and I love their signature phrase 'Making Living Lovely' because, why not?

  1. Love the pale aqua linen - I have the H&M ones and can vouch for their softness. They get softer with every wash as well.

Also I can't look at that kitchen. I just can't.

    1. H&M Home wins every time, in my opinion

  2. Agree on h&m home but their bed sets only seem to come in singles and doubles, not king size, sadly.

  3. I have sets from Ikea and Soak and Sleep. All my sheets and pillowcases are also linen! I too love the "lived in" look and feel. A total convert - and it never looks old and jaded like cotton does eventually, as it gets better with age.

    1. Good to know they get better with age - true about cotton - my white cotton pillowcases are starting to look a little worse for wear (maybe I should stop wearing that overnight fake tan!) x
