Brooklyn down-time

After the manicness of New York Fashion Week, we decided to spend a few days in an Air BnB in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Neither of us had been before and it was a chance to relax on the quieter side of New York, but also exploring the hip bars, restaurants and cafe culture.
Needless to say, we loved it.

The weather had cooled down on our last day, so the perfect outing for a classic shirt, coat and trainers - my style staples. Even during Fashion Week mayhem, I am always preppy at heart, and feel most at ease in off-duty classics.

The Gant collection in House of Fraser is full of such classics, and I picked this camel coat to photograph against the brownstone Brooklyn buildings. I fitted right in. A camel coat is always a wardrobe essential and this fitted style is a great investment - and looks just as good with jeans and boots when the weather cools down.

There was just one moment where we felt out of our depth amongst hipsters - in the famous graffiti-strewn pizzeria 'Roberta's' in Bushwick - regularly filmed in 'Girls', blasting 90s hip hop and teenagers spilling onto the street with their takeaway pizza, and a 2 hour wait for a seat at 9pm...so we got takeaway and took it back to our flat for an early night. Sometimes you just need to know your limits.

This post was in collaboration with Gant, in House of Fraser, whose preppy style is very me and helped us take more pictures on our trip.

    1. Thank you! Brooklyn was fab, but almost a destination in itself - you almost don't want to venture back to Manhattan!
