Hackney Walk Outlets

Coat: £260, Comptoir des Cotonniers. Jumper: H&M (old). Bag: £365, Manu Atelier. Jeans: £34.99, Gap.  Boots: £115, UnisaPhotographs: Ella Sadika
Christmas is fast approaching and we're all looking to get a bit more for our money. Last week I went to Hackney Walk, somewhere I'd heard a bit about but, despite its location in London, never actually visited. It's fast becoming a hub of designer outlets: Burberry, Aquascutum and more recently: Matches Fashion, so I wanted to see if it was worth all the hype.

First off, it's not super big. If you're expecting a Bicester Village type scenario, then you need to manage your expectations. But in terms of the stores it has, for someone like me without a Celine budget, the stores are actually very relevant: Anya Hindmarch, Ugg Australia, Matches Fashion and Nike are probably the shops I'd most likely go into anyway.

But are there any bargains? Most definitely. The Matches Fashion store is beautifully merchandised and if you're after something pretty special for an event then you will find Erdem (there was an embroidered floral dress I fell in love with), Dolce & Gabbana, Tabitha Simmons shoes all discounted heavily, with up to 70% off. The shop is laid out by size, too - so it makes rummaging that little bit easier.

The next stop was Joseph: a store whose aesthetic I love - clean, minimal lines but always with a fashion edge. If you're looking for a classic chunky knit or a coat that will last you a lifetime: look no further.

Joseph coat: reduced from £865 to £260

And then we headed to Ugg: where everyone actually buys their Christmas presents (who doesn't want a pair of Ugg slippers for Christmas?!). These were reduced from £85 to £55...

Baby boots (I know!): reduced from £50 to £35
You'll be pushed to find the 'Classic Style', although there were a few, but you'll definitely find some classics with a twist in a range of sizes.

Boots: reduced from £160 to £105

Perhaps slightly less chic, we can't forget the giant Nike store: floor to ceiling stacks of trainers - Nike Air Max Theas, Free Runs etc, all at excellent prices.

Trainers: reduced from £120 to £37 (really!)

The Burberry outlet was the first amongst these stores - bust sadly we couldn't take photos in store (I wouldn't say there were that many bargains though).

Our last stop was Anya Hindmarch  - the one we all really want to know about. We felt very 'at home' here, it in no way felt like an Outlet store and there were some decent reductions, too. You won't feel like you're getting the biggest bargain of your life, but you also don't feel like you're bargain basement shopping, either. It's a very civilised way to shop and, if like me, you're someone who is willing to invest in a decent wallet (my current one is Anya Hindmarch and I love it), and you get £100 off by buying it here, then it's definitely worth it.

Leather pouches: reduced from £165 to £105
I had to be pretty much surgically removed from the Smiley crossbody bag: reduced from £550 to £355.

Leather wallet: £325 to £210
Glitter 'Valorie' clutch: reduced from £350 to £175

If you're after some quick Christmas shopping at great discounts, then Hackney Walk is definitely worth a visit. It's still a small space, but one that is growing at a quick space - Henry Holland, Zadig & Voltaire are next on the store opening list and soon they are concentrating more on the Food and Drink side. It won't be long until this is one of the go-to outlet shopping destinations.

This post was in collaboration with Hackney Walk, a great place to get some special christmas presents, and I'll definitely be back!

  7. LOVE that bag in the top picture! Obssessed. That said - when the look comes to nearly £800, you might want to consider changing the name of your blog... There ain't nothing "frugal" about your posts anymore (which is a shame as I always loved that aspect of it. Now the posts are basically the same as other bloggers - expensive/designer stuff mixed in with like a high street t-shirt or something to keep up the proviso that it's still "normal".) Still - love to lust over the stuff in any case!!
